Our last session included toasting hot cross buns on the fire pit, just before the Easter holidays.
We used paracord to create our own swings and seat today. Lots of fun!
We had a great time looking for signs of Spring today, finding blossom and pussy willow.
We strolled around Smith Pool and enjoyed dipping our feet in!
Sessions 8 and 9:
We worked in teams to build our own dens using natural materials on the ground. We thought about coverage using leaves too, in our next session.
We had a spontaneous lesson today practising our balancing and agility skills walking through muddy tracks!
We practised our tree-climbing too.
To celebrate our super fire-lighting skills, Mr Fox built a fire for us to cook baked beans and spaghetti hoops.
We enjoyed the campfire cookout and had some time to explore our school outdoor area.
Today, we used our fire-lighting skills to help us move to the next stage...lighting a small fire using tinder!
We also looked at dried artichoke flowers and dissected them to count the seeds inside.
We focused on using a knife to safely peel bark from a stick.
In this week’s session we made magic sparks using fire steels (classes alternated activities on weeks 2 and 3).
Our magic theme continued… We used wood loppers to cut chunks of wood and then we worked in groups to make magic carpets out of branches and sticks.
We always find some time to climb a few trees.
In the frost, we explored tales of Jack Frost and identified ice crystals in nature, including blades of grass and cobwebs.
We chose the perfect stick for a magical wand and created elf/fairy homes around tree bases.
