SMSC and British Values
In Year 1, we learn how to be good citizens by following the principles of the British Values. We aim to treat others as we would like to be treated and show respect for our teachers and our friends.
- DEMOCRACY
We have lots of opportunities to vote in Year 1 and it helps us to make important decisions. For example we hold a vote to decide on our Golden Time activity each week.
- RULE OF LAW
We follow the Golden Rules in the classroom and around the school. They help us to be kind, honest, helpful and hardworking pupils.
- INDIVIDUAL LIBERTY
We are independent learners who want to work hard and we try hard to make sensible choices.
- MUTUAL RESPECT
We respect the adults and children in our school.
- TOLERANCE OF THOSE WITH DIFFERENT FAITHS AND BELIEFS
We enjoy learning about the different faiths and cultures in our society. In our RE lessons we have been learning about the festivals that Christians and Muslims celebrate.
