Forest School

Your child will be partaking in Forest School sessions in the autumn term every Thursday. Please send your child to school wearing their PE kit with the following items...

  •  A warm coat (with hood)

  •  A hat, scarf and gloves for cold days

Please send you child to school in their PE kit every Thursday instead of their school uniform. PE will be taught outdoors where possible so please ensure that you child is prepared for outdoor sport activities by wearing the following...

All homework tasks will be set on-line for the foreseeable future.

Your child has usernames and passwords for three different online programs.  A sheet with this information will be sent home shortly.  Pupils will be shown how to log on and access the different tasks.

Pupils who are unable to access the internet at home will be given some time in school to 'catch up' on these tasks.

On-line homework will commence from Friday 18th September 2020 and is to be completed by the following Friday (25th).

Homework will be set every Friday and is to be completed by the following Friday (1 week later).

Spellings for your child to learn will be set every Monday via the Spelling Shed website. This will commence from Monday 14th September. Spellings given are set for your child's age and to recap previous phonetical learning.

Our aim in Year 1 is to ensure that the children experience a smooth transition from the Foundation Stage to Key Stage One. The Year 1 curriculum builds upon and extends the experiences that the children have had in the Foundation Stage.

Learning through play continues to be an important part of the school day and the children are gradually eased into more formal learning as the year goes on so that they remain motivated, enthused and eager learners.

Walking into the Year 1 classroom feels like stepping into the pages of our Story Topic book.
