*Please make sure your child brings a labelled water bottle/flask into class everyday. Pupils are able to refill their flasks when required.

Forest School and PE

Forest school has now ended for this academic year.

Please send you child into school wearing their PE kit every Thursday instead of their school uniform. PE will be taught outdoors where possible so please ensure that you child is prepared for outdoor sport activities by wearing the following...

  • black jogging bottoms

  • white t-shirt

  • plain sweatshirt / jumper

  • trainers / pumps

Homework

Homework will alternate between work set online and work set in homework books, which will be sent home.  Homework that is set online will be accessed similarly to the Home Learning that was provided during the recent lockdown period.  In the first week back, pupils will be reminded of the programs and their usernames and passwords. Pupils have been shown how to log on and how to access the different tasks via Purple Mash.

Pupils who are unable to access the internet at home will be given some time in school to 'catch up' on these tasks.

Homework will be set every Friday and is to be completed by the following Friday (1 week later).

Spellings

Spellings for your child to learn will be sent home at the beginning of each term stating which words they need to learn each week. Spellings given are set for your child's age.

Here are the spellings for this half term;

Our aim in Year 1 is to ensure that the children experience a smooth transition from the Foundation Stage to Key Stage One. The Year 1 curriculum builds upon and extends the experiences that the children have had in the Foundation Stage.

Learning through play continues to be an important part of the school day and the children are gradually eased into more formal learning as the year goes on so that they remain motivated, enthused and eager learners.

Walking into the Year 1 classroom feels like stepping into the pages of our Story Topic book.
