Homework will alternate between work set online and work set in homework books, which will be sent home. Homework that is set online will be accessed similarly to the Home Learning that was provided during the recent lockdown period. In the first week back, pupils will be reminded of the programs and their usernames and passwords. Pupils have been shown how to log on and how to access the different tasks via Purple Mash.
Pupils who are unable to access the internet at home will be given some time in school to 'catch up' on these tasks.
Homework will be set every Friday and is to be completed by the following Friday (1 week later).
Spellings for your child to learn each week are now found under Year 1 homework - Year 1 spellings. Spellings set are suitable for your child's age. Some may be repeated to embed learning. Your child will be tested on their spellings every Friday.
Our aim in Year 1 is to ensure that the children experience a smooth transition from the Foundation Stage to Key Stage One. The Year 1 curriculum builds upon and extends the experiences that the children have had in the Foundation Stage.
Learning through play continues to be an important part of the school day and the children are gradually eased into more formal learning as the year goes on so that they remain motivated, enthused and eager learners.
Walking into the Year 1 classroom feels like stepping into the pages of our Story Topic book.
