Burwardsley 2021

Both Mrs Atterbury's class and Miss Munro's class had an amazing time on their residential trip to Burwardsley this year.

We arrived at the centre and soon set off for our first trip to the dairy farm.  We met Farmer Bull then experienced the interesting smells of the farm and had lots of time to find out all about the cows and ask lots of questions. We stopped for a picnic and collected conkers for our classroom nature table, too!

After lunch, we walked to the candle making factory, where we enjoyed following the instructions to dip! dip! drip! drip! the wax before twisting the candles carefully.

Next we ate a delicious tea, then we went on a twilight walk and stopped in the woods to build dens/bivouacs.

To end the day, we sang around the campfire and ate toasted marshmallows before drinking hot chocolate and being tucked up in bed.

Everyone was tired and fell asleep quickly after a story.

The next day, we travelled back in time to the Iron Age and Stone Age. We visited the round house then took part in an archaeological dig.  We found artefacts and tried our hands at building the wall of a round house. We spoke about how people from those periods would have been hunters and gatherers, and practised our archery skills for hunting!

Thank you to everyone who helped us to have a lovely time!
